Shiraz in Fars Province is the cultural home of the Qashqai tribal carpet tradition in southern Iran. Shiraz carpets are woven in pure wool on wool by nomadic weavers using geometric patterns carried through generations without ever being drawn on paper. The character is genuine and each piece is individual.
The deep midnight blue ground at 3 ft 9 in x 5 ft is less common in the Shiraz tradition than the usual red and rust palette, giving this piece a cooler, more architectural quality. The geometric pattern is bold and direct, knotted at 36 knots per square inch.
In your home: Works as a bedside rug, accent piece or small sitting room carpet. The navy ground pairs with cream walls, natural timber and contemporary as well as classic interiors.
