Shiraz in Fars Province is the cultural home of the Qashqai tribal carpet tradition in southern Iran. Shiraz carpets are woven in wool on wool by nomadic weavers using geometric patterns carried through generations. Each piece is individual and carries genuine tribal character.
The maroon ground at 4 ft 1 in x 5 ft is warm and confident, with a multicolour border adding visual variety. The geometric pattern is bold and direct, knotted at 64 knots per square inch in pure wool on wool.
