The Baluchi are a nomadic people spread across Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan. Their carpet weaving tradition uses bold geometric patterns and wool on wool construction to produce textiles with genuine tribal character. This Pakistani Baluchi piece is woven in pure wool on wool at 36 knots per square inch.
The dark brown ground with tan border at 4 ft 1 in x 7 ft 1 in is warm and earthy. The geometric pattern is direct and confident. The tan border provides warm definition against the dark field. Wool on wool construction gives excellent durability.
