The Mahal design takes its name from the commercial weaving workshops of Sultanabad in western Iran, which produced large-format carpets with bold floral compositions in the 19th century. Pakistani weavers produce this tradition in pure wool on cotton at 256 knots per square inch.
The burgundy and red ground with black border at 5 ft 11 in x 9 ft 1 in is warm and commanding. The black border provides a strong architectural frame. At this large format the carpet anchors a full sitting room or dining area.
In your home: Works in formal sitting rooms and dining rooms. The burgundy and black combination suits classic and dramatic contemporary interiors.
