Kashan in Isfahan Province is one of the great carpet weaving centres of Iran. The city produced some of the finest Safavid court carpets ever made and the formal medallion design that defines the Kashan tradition has been in continuous production for four centuries. This is a genuine Iranian Kashan woven in pure wool on cotton at 156 knots per square inch.
The red ground at 4 ft 7 in x 6 ft 10 in is warm and traditional. The deep midnight blue border provides a strong, classic contrast. This is a medium format piece in the standard Kashan red and navy palette, one of the most tried and proven colour combinations in the Persian carpet world.
In your home: Works in sitting rooms, dining rooms and master bedrooms. The red and navy combination suits classic and colonial interiors. Also pairs with contemporary rooms that use deep, considered colour.
