Uchan is a village in the Ardabil region of northwestern Iran, within the same tribal weaving culture that produced the great northwest Persian and Caucasian carpets. Uchan pieces are woven in wool on wool with geometric patterns carried in memory rather than drawn. The construction is honest and each piece carries genuine individual character.
The camel ground with blue border at 4 ft 5 in x 6 ft 6 in is warm and grounded. The curvilinear geometric pattern adds movement without imposing strong colour direction. Wool on wool at 64 knots per square inch gives the construction real durability and a pleasant density underfoot.
In your home: Works in sitting rooms, bedrooms and studies. The camel ground pairs with natural timber, linen and warm toned walls. Suits organic and transitional interiors.
