Uchan is a village in the Ardabil region of northwestern Iran. Uchan carpets are woven in wool on wool with geometric patterns held in memory, giving each piece an individuality that designed carpets do not carry. The construction is robust and the character is genuinely tribal.
The blue ground with beige border at 4 ft 7 in x 5 ft 5 in is direct and confident. Blue grounds are relatively uncommon in the Uchan tradition and give this piece a cooler, more architectural quality. The geometric curvilinear pattern adds movement to the dark field.
In your home: Works as a bedside rug, small sitting room carpet or study accent. The navy ground pairs with cream walls, natural timber and both classic and contemporary interiors.
