The Baluchi are a nomadic people spread across Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan whose carpet weaving tradition is characterised by bold geometric patterns, dark grounds and wool on wool construction. The Baluchi tradition is direct and honest: patterns are carried in memory rather than drawn, and each piece carries genuine individual character.
The brown ground at 3 ft 7 in x 6 ft 7 in is warm and earthy. Brown grounds are relatively common in the Baluchi tradition and give the geometric pattern a warm, grounded quality. Woven at 36 knots per square inch in wool on wool.
