Burjesta carpets originate from the tribal weaving regions of western Iran. Like most pieces from this tradition, the design is geometric and the construction is honest: wool pile on a wool base, knotted by hand without a drawn cartoon or commercial template. The patterns carry the character of the weaver rather than the requirements of a market.
This piece has a beige and ivory ground with a multicolour border, a palette that sits gently in a room without asserting itself. The curvilinear geometric pattern adds visual interest without noise. At 4'2" x 5'10" it works well in a bedroom alongside or at the foot of a bed, or as an accent piece in a sitting room where a heavier coloured carpet might feel too dominant.
In your home: Well suited to bedrooms, reading areas and sitting rooms where a lighter tone is needed. Pairs with natural timber, linen upholstery and rooms with a soft, warm palette.
