Shiraz in Fars Province is the cultural home of the Qashqai tribal carpet tradition in southern Iran. Shiraz carpets are woven in wool on wool by nomadic weavers using geometric patterns that have never been drawn on paper. Each piece is individual and carries genuine tribal character.
The red ground at 3 ft 11 in x 4 ft 11 in is warm and direct. Red is the most traditional colour in the Shiraz repertoire. The geometric pattern is bold and simple, knotted at 64 knots per square inch. At this small format the piece works well as a bedside rug, an accent piece or layered over a larger plain floor.
In your home: Works as a bedside rug, accent piece or layering carpet. Pairs with natural timber, warm walls and earthy toned interiors.
