The Ardibil design takes its name from the great Ardabil carpet, one of the most celebrated Persian carpets ever made, woven in the 16th century and now housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Kashmiri weavers have produced silk interpretations of this composition for generations, adapting the formal medallion and arabesque design to their own pure silk on silk tradition.
