The Bokhara design takes its name from the city of Bukhara and is woven most widely across Afghanistan. The repeating gul motif has been central to Turkmen tribal carpet production for centuries. This large sold piece is woven in pure wool on wool at 196 knots per square inch, a fine knot count for a Bokhara that gives the gul repeat exceptional definition. Similar pieces are available in the current collection.
