The Gombud design takes its name from a domed architectural motif found across Persian and Islamic architecture. In carpet form the repeating arch creates a strong structural composition that differs from the flowing arabesque of the Kashan or Isfahan traditions. Pakistani weavers produce this design in pure wool on cotton at 256 knots per square inch.
The light tan all-over ground at 8 ft x 8 ft 5 in is warm and unusual. The near-square format suits spaces where a standard rectangular carpet would feel too directional, and works particularly well under round dining tables. The architectural arch pattern has a stateliness that suits formal rooms.
In your home: For formal sitting rooms, dining rooms and reception spaces. The all-tan palette suits classic and transitional interiors. The near-square format works well under round dining tables.
