Uchan is a village in the Ardabil region of northwestern Iran, within the tribal weaving tradition of the Caucasian-influenced northwest. Uchan carpets are woven in wool on wool with geometric patterns carried in memory rather than drawn. The construction is honest and each piece is genuinely individual.
The orange ground with blue border at 4 ft 9 in x 5 ft 9 in is warm and bold. Orange grounds are uncommon in the northwest Iranian tribal tradition and give this piece a warmth and energy that the more common red and navy grounds do not have. The geometric pattern is direct and confident.
In your home: Works as an accent piece in a sitting room, a bedroom carpet or a statement piece in a study. The orange ground pairs with navy, cream and warm toned interiors.
