The Khal Mohammadi design is named after an Ersari Turkmen tribal leader of northern Afghanistan. The pattern draws on the bold geometric vocabulary of the Turkmen tribal tradition and is woven in pure wool on wool at 81 knots per square inch.
The burgundy and red ground at 6 ft 7 in x 9 ft 4 in is deep and warm. Burgundy grounds are less common in the Khal Mohammadi tradition than standard red and give this piece a richer, more intimate quality. At this large format the carpet anchors a full room.
In your home: Works as the main floor piece in a sitting room or dining room. The burgundy ground pairs with dark timber, cream walls and classic or colonial interiors.
