Burjesta carpets come from the tribal weaving tradition of western Iran and are characterised by their bold geometric fields and the occasional use of silk highlights within a wool structure. The silk is not decorative in a conventional sense. It appears within the knotted pile itself, tracing specific elements of the pattern and catching the light differently from the wool around it, giving the design a subtle but noticeable dimension.

This piece has a red and rust ground with a burgundy border, a deeply warm palette that suits rooms with dark timber, aged leather and metal accents. At 4'2" x 6'11" it sits in the medium range and works well as an accent carpet in a living room seating area or as a bedroom piece alongside or at the foot of the bed. The geometric pattern has the directness characteristic of tribal weaving from this region.
