The Oushak design takes its name from the city of Usak in western Turkey, which has been a centre of carpet production since the 15th century. Oushak carpets are known for their soft, open floral compositions, large-scale patterns and warm, faded palettes. They have an approachability and decorative warmth that the more formal Persian classical traditions do not always have. This Pakistani piece is woven in pure wool on cotton at 81 knots per square inch.
The dark cerulean blue ground with red border at 10 ft x 13 ft 9 in is commanding and palatial. At this extra large format the piece defines a significant room entirely. The Oushak floral composition in deep blue is unusual and striking. The red border provides warm definition.
In your home: For palatial sitting rooms, dining halls and significant reception spaces. The dark blue ground pairs with cream walls and both classic and contemporary luxury interiors.
