Gabbeh is one of the older weaving traditions connected to the nomadic and semi-nomadic peoples of the Persian world. The word roughly translates as raw or uncut, and the aesthetic reflects that directly. Thick pile, hand-spun wool, natural vegetable dyes, simple geometry. These are not refined carpets in the classical sense. They are made to be lived on, and they improve with use.
This piece comes from Pakistan, woven in the Gabbeh style with baby lamb's wool coloured using natural dyes that age well rather than fading harshly. At 5'9" x 7'10" it is large enough to anchor a sitting area or work as the central piece under a dining table. The multicolour palette reads as warm and earthy, sitting naturally alongside linen, rattan, raw timber and stone.
In your home: Well suited to living rooms, dining spaces and larger bedrooms. Works with organic, natural and Japandi influenced interiors. Pairs with rattan furniture, linen upholstery and terracotta tones.
