Shiraz in Fars Province is the centre of the Qashqai tribal carpet tradition in southern Iran. Shiraz carpets are woven in wool on wool by nomadic weavers using geometric patterns carried in memory. These are not designed carpets. They are direct, honest and individual.
The red ground at 3 ft 10 in x 5 ft 3 in is warm and grounding. The geometric pattern is bold and simple, knotted at 36 knots per square inch using natural dyed wool. At this size the piece works well as a bedside rug, an accent in a sitting room or layered over a larger plain floor.
In your home: Works as a bedside rug, accent piece or layering carpet. Pairs with natural timber, warm walls and earthy toned interiors. Suits both traditional and contemporary rooms.
