Uchan is a village in the Ardabil region of northwestern Iran, within the same tribal weaving culture that produced the great northwest Persian and Caucasian carpets. Uchan pieces are woven in wool on wool using geometric patterns that come from the weaver rather than a drawn template. The construction is honest and the character is genuinely tribal.

The deep midnight blue ground at 3 ft 10 in x 5 ft 3 in is direct and confident. The geometric curvilinear pattern adds movement to the dark field. At 36 knots per square inch in wool on wool this is a robust, practical piece suited to regular use.

In your home: Works as a bedside rug, sitting room accent or small study carpet. The navy ground pairs with cream walls, natural timber and both classic and contemporary interiors.
