The Bokhara design takes its name from the city of Bukhara and is woven most widely across Afghanistan and Pakistan. The repeating gul motif has been central to Turkmen tribal carpet production for centuries. This large Afghan piece is woven in pure wool on wool at 121 knots per square inch, giving the gul repeat good definition and the construction excellent durability.
The red ground at 6 ft 11 in x 9 ft 10 in is warm and traditional. The Bokhara in red is one of the most enduring and versatile carpet colour combinations available. At this large format the piece anchors a full sitting room or dining area. Wool on wool at 121 knots gives exceptional durability.
In your home: Works as the main floor piece in a sitting room or dining room. The red ground pairs with dark timber, cream walls and classic or colonial interiors.
